SPIRITUAL HEALING QUEST
Where Do You Begin Your Search? Finding your spiritual connection is a need for the soul as great as the need for food and water to sustain the physical body. And so the quest begins. Where does one go to acquire this nourishment for the soul. There are texts available in every language and religious modality covering the ways to reach Nirvana. There are lecturers and religious leaders with detailed instructions on "The Way". There are workshops and retreats offering as many paths as there are people interested. But where does a being start the journey? Are the answers of such a personal nature that outside interference will only increase the confusion? If we are always connected to the God source, the name changing to fit your specific spiritual/religious affiliation, then aren't we connected to the informational bank that will be individually suited to our needs, wants, desires, and lesson plan? The world's best gurus are merely a sign-post along our path to direct us to our inner journey. They are the stimulus to open up our own storehouse of knowledge. When Transcendental Meditation first appeared in the Western world, I believe it opened a vital gateway into our own subconcious library of healing ideologies. We have come a long way from this initiatory process. And along with this expansion, have come so many "ways" and means to tap our spiritual wholeness, that it may be more confusing than ever. I postulate that there is a simple way to begin. Sitting in the silence of our own connection with spirit should be the starting point of our spiritual quest. Not to downplay the wonderfully profuse volumes of self-help texts available, these should be used as auxiliary tools to our own silent connection with the Divine Spirit that goes by many names (God, Allah, Buddha,...) The true empowerment for our spiritual and physical life should always remain within our control. When we rely on others, we give up our power. Within our being we each hold the template for a happy, fulfilling life. Convene with nature, sit quietly within the confines of your own company, connect to the Goodness of Divine spirit, and enjoy the journey. Blessings!! gale j. lee

What Fears Hold You Back? How many of us make plans for self improvement or self discovery, like taking a class to learn a new skill, and then just before the point of immersion find a handy excuse to NOT move forward? How many of us are afraid of being successful at something new? Whenever you sabotage your efforts by finding an excuse to not take that step forward, do you placate yourself by saying something like, “I really didn’t have the money for that,” or “That would have been more work than pleasure,” or “I don’t really have the time to fit that in”? What self annihilating statements do you create to make excuses for not living your life to the fullest? Why do we stay in the security of the safe and known rather than venturing out and at least attempting a new adventure. Sometimes, I believe we are afraid that this new direction will change our life forever. And yes, this is true most of the time. If you develop yourself to a greater level, you might need to change jobs or leave the relationships which don’t bring you joy. The further we each move along our path to joy, the less able we are to tolerate the dysfunction which holds us back. But, this also means that we can not hide in ignorance and continue to believe that this is the most we can expect from our life, or this is just what fate dealt us. One day when you are ready, you will realize that growth is healthy and imperative, even if it is very uncomfortable. Discomfort is only a temporary condition of advancement. It is a necessary part of the process. It is only initially uncomfortable. And on the other side, after the accomplishment is achieved, you wonder why you ever worried or had hesitations. Little babies never fear the task of learning to walk. They don’t think about the bumps and bruises they will get along the journey. They are so eager to gain the next step that nothing gets in their way. If we could just remember and imitate this attitude, nothing would stop us. So, next time you see a class, or a job, or a travel brochure, and you feel like expanding your horizons, remember the tiny child who you once were. Don’t let a few minor obstacles get in your way. Take a first step.
